Tapping Into Calm: My Journey with Tapping

I woke up today as my Lumie Sunrise Clock started to shine. Instead of reaching straight for my phone as I often have done in the past, I sat up and tapped.

Now I don’t mean the annoying tapping that my brother used to do while I was trying to watch something and he’s working out a new song or something….no…. I mean a practice that is so incredible for the nervous system and the mind.

In 2023, I discovered tapping and it truly changed my life. As someone who has always loved mindful practices like yoga and meditation, I instantly felt a deep connection to this simple yet powerful technique.

My first experience with tapping, also known as Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), was focused on my mindset around money and business. Like many, I had internal blocks around these topics, and tapping helped me uncover and work through them in ways I hadn’t been able to before.

But as I got more familiar with the practice, it became so much more than just a tool for my business. Tapping turned into a lifeline on tough days as a parent—those moments when mum guilt weighed heavily on my heart or when navigating the complexities of co-parenting left me feeling drained.

How Tapping Became My Daily Anchor

Over time, tapping became part of my daily routine, complementing my other practices like yoga. Here’s how it’s helped me:

  • For Stress and Overwhelm: On days when everything feels like too much, tapping gives me the release I need to find clarity and calm.
  • For Better Sleep: Restlessness at bedtime used to keep me awake, but a few minutes of tapping helps me wind down and ease into sleep especially on those days where my mind is really busy.
  • For Morning Motivation: Starting my day with a short tapping session has been amazing. It helps me set the tone for a calm, focused morning, no matter what lies ahead. I’ve been trying to replace my urge to reach for my phone and start my day with calm.
  • For Emotional Release: Whether it’s guilt, frustration, or self-doubt, tapping has helped me process and release emotions in a healthy, constructive way.

This practice has supported me through so many moments, big and small, that I can honestly say it has been life-changing. So often I would want to skip right to the feeling good part, without giving myself a chance to feel what I am feeling and move through the emotions. Tapping has really helped me feel more at ease.

The Power of Holding Space

Now that I’m certified in tapping, I’m thrilled to offer this incredible practice to others. My journey has taught me how meaningful it is to have someone hold space for you—a coach who truly listens and supports you as you work through your challenges.

As a parent, caregiver or a teacher, I know how easy it is to give your all to everyone else and leave little for yourself. Tapping sessions with a coach offer a rare and beautiful opportunity to focus entirely on you. It’s your time to release blocks, feel at ease, and reconnect with your inner calm.

3 Cosy December Family Practices

December starts tomorrow and I feel like November was just this blur…it went by so quick. I went from feeling super prepared to feeling like everything was on top of me and I started getting really overwhelmed. Every time I made time to step onto my mat and do my self-care practices, I could feel…

Is it actually okay not be okay?

I’ve been sitting with something big the last few days and I realised a hidden belief I had for myself….. That it’s actually not okay to not be okay….. weird after sharing “It’s okay not to be okay.” for so long. But I realised that not being okay has usually equalled rejection and abonnement for…
